Happy 3rd Birthday Mikayla

Mikayla Monkey{Miky-Moo, Mikers}, my favorite Mikayla in the world.

{5 Days Old}

You are giggly, mischievous, and always on the look out for something more.
You are always looking for opportunities to make others laugh.
{11 months}

You are sweet and snuggly.
{8 months}

You are entertaining and vibrant.
You will do almost anything for a laugh.

You are incredibly spunky and full of spice.
You are always smiling, until you are not, and then you really are not.

You are stubborn and determined.

You are beautiful inside and out.
You are fearless and will try anything once.

You despise being called 'little'.
You love intensly.

You love to color and paint.
You love to do "school".

You are the recent recipient of pierced ears and you love to show everyone you meet.

You are loved beyond measure.
You are a gift.
You are three years old today.
Happy 3rd Birthday Mikayla.

We had a fun time celebrating Mikayla's birthday. We opened gifts in the morning and had oatmeal for breakfast, as per her request. She also requested McDonald's for lunch and since we don't have one in town, we piled into the van and drove up north. We enjoyed a raccoon cake after dinner as they are Mikayla's favorite animal. She is quite passionate about them!
All in all, the perfect way to celebrate a 3rd birthday.

First Annual Watson Family Christmas Concert via Skype

This afternoon the kids had fun putting on a Christmas Concert for Nanee and Bupee on Skype. They sang songs, recited poetry, played the piano and shared their memory verse. It was a lot of fun and hopefully we can make this an annual tradition. The event was so successful that we have a second concert planned for tomorrow afternoon for the Powell River group, including Gigi and Poppa.

Mikayla surprised me by singing "Away in a Manger" while she played so I quickly grabbed the camera and managed to catch the ending.

I experience so much joy teaching my children new things.
Things like.......
learning to read,
riding a bike,
and how to show others kindness.

There are some things that I regret teaching my children.
Things like......
how to whistle,
telling time,
and the simple, yet obnoxious, words to "Who let the dogs out?".

We spent the last week with Grandma. Although everyone was sick, we did manage to fit in a few adventures.

Now that life has gotten busy with the five kids, I often feel like company comes and goes without any real interaction. I suppose that is what our visits will now look like.......a quick submersion into our life and happenings.
I am so thankful for the time that we can spend with family.

Although Caileigh's birthday party was cancelled, we had a wonderful day with Grandma.
As per tradition, the birthday individual gets to choose their dinner. Caileigh chose her favorite......ribs. I think you can clearly see the evidence all over her face!

Alex couldn't decide whether he wanted to eat the cake, or gnaw on the rib bone.

The younger three are still fighting this cold/flu and I have been feeling fairly crummy as well.
We plan on spending some quiet time leading up to Christmas with.......
a little playdough

Reading.

Listening to audio CD's

Wiping runny noses

And just enjoying spending time with each other!
