Mikayla's 6th Birthday-Part 1

Mikayla turned 6 at 8:43 this morning.
After a choice breakfast of Lucky Charms we loaded up in the van for a cold adventure.
The temperature was -17 with a wind chill of -28.  We stopped at Timmies for doughnuts, picked up some birthday balloons and then headed to the park.
The plan was to sled and drink hot chocolate and eat our snack.  Alex and Jordan had a tough time with the cold so only lasted about 20min before they headed back for the warmth of the van.  Aiden lasted an hour and probably would have stayed out longer to try out his new snowboard but it was time to go home.
We had friends stop in to visit in the afternoon.  Mikayla got to have a tea party with her friend.
We spent the evening relaxing watching a movie and eating pizza.
It was a nice relaxing day to celebrate our spunky 6 year old.
Today was part one of Mikayla's birthday because Sean will be off work on the 1st and we plan to celebrate again as a family.

A few pics of our day.......

(note the tree fallen over!  We've promised Aiden we'd keep the Christmas stuff up until new years but we'll have to see if we make it!)

Christmas 2014

Nanee and Bupee spent Christmas with us this year.
Leading up to Christmas the kids were so full of excitement and extra energy.  Being able to go outside each day and ice skate was welcomed!
Our days were filled with activity from crafts, reading, decorating a gingerbread train, walks, christmas eve church service, and much more.
This year has been the most mild in terms of temperature and snow fall that we have ever seen.  It was pretty special to walk out of church on christmas eve to snow falling ever so lightly.  It gave the trees a little dusting and was the perfect christmas morning treat.
It was a lovely Christmas.

Christmas Eve after church

Very excited kids.

Traditional Christmas Eve pajamas.

5am Christmas morning!
Sean had to go into work every 6 hours over the holidays for store checks so the kids waited as patiently as they could for him to get home.  Gifts were all opened by 8am.

Caileigh is 8

Caileigh Bear is 8.

6am I receive a text from Gramma, she's coming for a surprise visit!  She promises to be there in 4 hours.

Caileigh wakes up and after a choice breakfast of Lucky Charms, she opens birthday gifts.
Caileigh and I head downtown for a special date.  We shop for a birthday present for her and we stop for hot chocolate and cookies.  I've received a call from Gramma to let me know that she will be in town shortly so we plan to meet up at the 108 mall.  As we're heading from town, back to the 108, my coffee cup lid falls off.  I'm stumbling to fix it and then look up to see my mom speeding by in her car.  I give a little scream of surprise.  Caileigh and I arrive at the mall and head towards the post office.  We open the door and there, standing behind a birthday balloon, is Gramma!
Caileigh sees her, smiles and quietly announces, "Gramma".  So fun!

We head back home for another choice meal of alphagetti and cheese and crackers.  The adults eat homemade chicken noodle soup instead:)

The rest of the day is filled with skating, dinner of hamburgers and fries, horse cake, and a special movie to finish off the day.

I hope that Caileigh enjoyed her day and knows how much she is loved.  Caileigh has such a sweet disposition, is a peace maker and is always thinking of others.  Caileigh has a gift in working with children and I could foresee her with a future of working in a nurturing profession.
I asked Caileigh how many children she would like to have one day and she replied, "Not too many, like 20.  Maybe just 5 or 6 or 7".  :)
Caileigh loves reading, crafting and playing with friends.  Caileigh is always creating gifts to give to others.
I can't wait to see what this year brings for my Caileigh Bear.

Money in the cake!
