Sleepover

The dynamics with the kid's relationships change often around here. Today Alex and Aiden spent a lot of time together and when bedtime came, Alex was sobbing for his brother to sleep with him.  Where Aiden goes, usually Caileigh follows, so the three snuggled in together for sleep.

Meanwhile upstairs we let Mikayla lie in our bed because it wouldn't be fair to have her sleep far downstairs by herself.  We let Jordan join so he wasn't left alone and then of course Buddy took his spot on the bed too.

First Snow

It wasn't much, but somehow they managed to produce a baby snowman.

We had our annual costume party this year but friends of ours hosted.  The girls wanted to wear their same dresses from last year.  Alex had a hard time choosing and although he's pictured here as iron man, he ended up going as spiderman.  This is after he was originally superman.

The kids learned about fall and why the leaves change colour, then created a fall button branch and created art using fruit and veggies.

Road Trip

Saturday my Grandpa turned 99.  We drove down early Saturday morning.  We had our usual quick stop in Hope and then arrived at the home around noon, quickly changed, and were ready to celebrate. Apart from Jordan getting car sick, it was a fairly smooth trip.  It was wonderful to spend time with family, meet new cousins, and celebrate Poppa!

Here you can see Poppa in the middle next to Gigi on their wedding day.  Such a beautiful couple!

Sunday morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we drove out to visit with Great Auntie Margaret and Great Auntie Ina.  These are two very special ladies to our family.  They are always thinking of others and are generous, caring and thoughtful.  Great Auntie Margaret will be celebrating her own 99th birthday in January.  Two amazing ladies that have always been my favourite great aunts:)

Jordan enjoyed looking at the pictures of his pretty cousins.

After our visit it was off to the zoo.  We spent a few hours exploring the different animals and enjoying the impressive October weather.  A gorgeous day!

Mikayla's very favourite, reptiles!

Caileigh's favourite, horses.

After the zoo we drove to Kamloops.  The kids were pretty squirelly during this leg of the journey.  Here's Jordan with a pretzel bag on his head (his helmet) and Alex stuck a stick in his nose and said he was a cow.

We arrived at the hotel and had a swim, a very late dinner and then all went to bed at the same time.
Monday morning we drove to the Adams River salmon spawning festival.  It was cold and wet but we still enjoyed getting to see the many, bright red salmon swimming upstream.

Caileigh bear as a bear.

After leaving the river, we began our drive home.  Sean and I have never been to Clearwater and I have always wanted to see Helmcken Falls.  We arrived in Clearwater only to discover that the falls was still over 40km away.  We just couldn't take the extra 80km of sitting in the car (the kids were getting more squirelly!) and we needed to pick Buddy up from the kennels.
We were happy to discover a beautiful falls very close to Clearwater.  It really was breathtaking.  I would love to go back on a day trip and see the many falls in the Wells Gray area.  Helmcken Falls looks like it is gorgeous in the winter when the water freezes.

We arrived home Monday night.

A wonderful time away but so good to be home:)
