Happy 5th Birthday Mikayla

Mikayla is 5!
This year Mikayla wanted a Christmas tree cake.  I made the cake and she got to decorate it.
We had lucky Charms for breakfast and then she opened a few gifts and cards from our family as she had already opened her gifts from Gramma and Bupee on boxing day.  We brought cupcakes to Sunday School and then came home for ham sandwiches, pickles and chips.  The kids played outside sledding and then we spent some time going through Mikayla's baby book.  The memories!  I miss those days already.  So much.
For dinner we had homemade pizza and ate while watching the movie of her choice, Tangled.
Cake and ice cream finished off this special day.  Mikayla brings so much life to this family and she is a joy.........0and she helps me stretch the most as a parent:)

Five things about Mikayla.......
1.  I love to paint, colour and do art.
2.  I like to camp.
3.  I love to eat Lucky Charms.
4.  I love to decorate my hair.
5.  I like to decorate the Christmas tree.

Five words I would use to describe Mikayla......
1. Vibrant
2.  Energetic
3.  Exuberant
4.  Tenacious
5.  Precocious

Christmas 2013

We spent Christmas with my parents and brother this year.  They arrived on Saturday.  We enjoyed time visiting and sharing in the kid's excitement.
Sunday after church the older three participated in a recital at the seniors home.
Christmas Eve we decided to have our own service here at home.  The kids each recited a poem and played a song on the piano.  Gramma read the Christmas story and we sang some carols.  It was very high energy!
We enjoyed Christmas traditions such as new pajamas on Christmas eve, cinnamon buns for breakfast and turkey for dinner.
Boxing day we celebrated Gramma's birthday (and Mikayla's) with waffles and whipped cream, Chinese food and apple pie.
The week went very quickly but was very much enjoyed:)

It's Christmas Eve!  This is my favourite day of the holidays.  Excitement and anticipation is in the air.  I love the tangible feeling of hope, pondering Christ's birth and death and all that means to us.  It puts perspective in it's place and leaves an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness.

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good."

So much to be thankful for....God's redeeming grace, family, friends, food, warmth.  My heart bursts with the abundance.

My family is here visiting.  Sunday the kids recited a poem and sang songs for the seniors home.

Happy 7th Birthday Caileigh

Caileigh Bear is 7!

7 Things about Caileigh.

1.  My favourite colour is pink
2.  I like swimming
3.  I like dogs.
4.  I like writing in cursive
5.  I play the piano.
6.  My favourite book is Black Stallion
7.  I love to eat grilled cheese sandwiches.

The best thing about being seven is.........that you can do things you couldn't do before. eg. swimming under water!

This year we celebrated Caileigh's birthday on Sunday as Sean was off.  She opened her presents in the morning and then we went to church where I brought cupcakes to share with the sunday school class.  In the afternoon Sean took the older three swimming and then we settled in for dinner, a movie and cake!  Her chosen meals were Lucky charms for breakfast, raisin toast for lunch and hamburgers for dinner.  Not Daddy's homemade ones but the ones that come in a box:)

This year Caileigh wanted a bear cake.  She even wanted me to only put one eye on it just like Teddy.

On Monday, we invited several families from church over to our house for a cookie decorating party.  One of the Dad's offered to bring his kid sized snowmobiles and the kids had So. Much. Fun!  They spent hours outside going around in circles.  Even Alex and Jordan got to use them.
