Alex and Jordan

Look at these angelic faces.

So sweet.  So energetic.  Still so mischievous!
Last week alone they broke the glass on the gas fireplace(Alex), cut the wire to my printer(apparently nobody did it?!), broke the blinds off the wall(Jordan), split their tongue(Alex), coloured on the walls with permanent maker (both) and a myriad of other unmentionables. They come to me with downcast faces to tell me, "Sorry Mommy, I did it on purpose."  I believe they mean by accident but the interpretation could really go either way:)

It really is such a unique dynamic having two the same age where they can be partners in crime and provide each other with the courage to do things they might not (or maybe they would) do on their own.  They are very close.  If they are hurt or upset the first thing they want is their blankies, or each other.  If I tell them they can't have, or do something, they tell me that I've "hurt their feelings".

Each on their own they can be so attentive and calm.  During meals they sit through 1/2 hour of read alouds and seem to follow the plot with the older kids.
They are super snuggly and friendly and love getting to spend time with people.  They tell me that they love me so much and it melts my heart every time.  They've also taken to calling me, "Mama", which I find very endearing.  They love being read to, playing with Lego and colouring.  They are into pirates, super heroes, trains and cars.

Alex recently learned to write his name and can do so independently.  Jordan wrote his name with my guidance but is great at practicing j's and o's on his own.

Alex drew me.  See how happy I am!

Aiden has started a Lego club with the boys and he has been making them various creations that they love to run around with.  They really enjoy their time spent with Aiden!

Caileigh loves to take care of them by hugging them, getting them snacks, playing with them and tucking them in at night with a story.

Mikayla and the boys often play together but sometimes it means the mischief they get into only increases:)

I truly find it hard to believe that they are 3 1/2.  They are growing up into little (big) boys that are so much fun to have around.  Looking forward to see what new adventures they bring...........

Monday, February 3, 2014

I turned the calendar page on Saturday and announced to the kids that I couldn't believe it was March already.  Well, it turns out that it wasn't.
We also experienced some warmer, sunny days that had me believing spring was right around the corner.  Well, it turns out that it isn't.
-10 and colder(-30) these last few days.

I'm so thankful for such a fantastic group of friends that share the same goals, passions and desires for our families.  I love being able to get together with them weekly and see the kid's friendships grow while they experience together.  There are a variety of ages and stages and yet all the kids working together and learning from each other.  I love the refreshment of visiting with other moms.  It's a special time all around.

I found an "easy" ways to take the kids sledding.  I walk to the end of the road, and then start to run back along the decline.  Buddy runs out in front pulling me, and I pull the kids!  Their energy surpasses mine for this activity though.
Mikayla all ready for "running club", a game that Aiden invented.   Pretty funny to watch the kids slipping and sliding as they "train" for their running in knee high snow.  Love to see them finding creative ways to stay active.

The three younger ones have been developing quite the friendship.  I love seeing them find common interests with each other.

{And older ones too!}

This was a little distracting as I was trying to teach school this morning:)

A couple of funnies......

At dinner, I was trying to keep the boys entertained and so I started to ask the kids questions like, "If we lived on a frozen planet, how would we travel?"  I kept making up silly questions and Aiden turns to me and says, "Sooo, is this some sort of training exercise?"

Aiden asked me what "red eye" meant, as in the function on his camera.  I explained it to him and he left the room.  As he was leaving, I heard him call out, "No Caileigh, it isn't a military program".
