Happy 5 Months Mikers

It is amazing how many stages of development you forget until your baby is in the midst of it and you think, "Oh, I remember this stage!" For you, Mikayla, this means hair pulling! You love to nuzzle your face into my neck and grasp my hair as you pull it towards your mouth. I have to be careful how close Aiden and Caileigh get to you or their hair is fair game. You are constantly trying to grab everything which makes simple tasks a lot more difficult. You started rolling over from your back to your tummy this week and are always looking for opportunities to practice this skill. Your voice continues to grow in strength and volume, especially during Library Time, which you just love. You offer a quick smile to anyone who comes close and makes eye contact. You would much rather "chat" and smile at me than drink your milk which makes for a lot of night time eating to catch up on those missed daytime feeds.
It is getting difficult for you to sleep with all the excitement in the house so usually you end up passing out from exhaustion while still in my arms or in the car seat on our way to other adventures. You have 2-3 naps a day and are still early to bed (6ish) and early to rise (5ish). I love you more everyday.

Overheard in the car this morning....

Caileigh "My baby is coming!!"

Aiden "Let's go home and play c-section."

Caileigh has been so mischievous lately. She loves getting into my purse and putting my Color Stay lipstick to the test.......yes it stays very well. She dumped all the towels out of the cupboard into the bath water. I found her sitting in her room with a tub of yogourt and a container of cream cheese. She constantly tries to sneak out the front door so both locks are needed.
Caileigh also loves to be naked and is constantly stripping off clothes. The other night while Sean was barbecuing dinner, Caileigh wanted to go outside. She wasn't allowed to go outside without clothes and so she grabbed her rain jacket and zipped it up tight. I couldnt help but think my little streaker looked cute!

We got our Bumbo back from our friends and Mikayla is able to enjoy watching the action a little easier.

After two nearly bald babies, I am really loving the hair!!

During our morning walk the other day, Caileigh had a fall and managed to get some road rash. Along with her facial scratches, she hurt her hand, knees and elbow. We went home and cleaned her up, went back out for our walk and then she decided that a trip to Safeway to see Sean (and Starbucks) would help. We hopped on the bus for the sheer adventure of it and ended up having a super fun morning.

Sean has been working a ton and is out of town until Saturday. As a result, I have had a fair bit of time in the evenings to play with photoshop. I figured out how to make an image black and white but leave one feature with the original colour.

Now if I could just figure out how to make both eyes blue!!

Lesson #1 with Photoshop. Playing with colour.

Hooray for nice weather!! The kids enjoying some fun with water yesterday.

Today we went for a picnic up at Haywire Bay. My Grandparents have generously, and graciously blessed us with their old motor home so we enjoyed looking at the campsites and picking out which spot we might choose next month when we go camping.

Notice Aiden and Sean dressed like twins today.

Mikayla has a wee cold. I found that the sun was too hot for her, yet the shade was too breezy. In the end, Mikayla and I hung out in the van while the others played by the water.

The only thing I didn't get a picture of was Aiden after he decided to take a running charge into the water, clothes and everything!

Auntie Jean

Thank you Auntie Jean for coming and visiting today. The weather was great and we really enjoyed getting to spend time with you.
Thank you for the gifts for the big kids and the beautiful blanket/shirt/bib for Mikayla. We had fun with you and hopefully can see you again soon.

The Boys

Mikayla likes to spend time rolling back and forth. Because of 2 other busy, rambunctious kids, Mikayla doesnt get as much floor time as the others did. Caileigh had already started rolling at this age so it will be interesting to see if the lack of opportunity puts Mikayla behind with this milestone.

Aiden made a fishing rod today out of an old wrapping paper tube and string. When we went to the park at the beach he was disappointed that we weren't actually going to be catching fish. Hopefully Aiden and Sean can go fishing together soon.

Aiden likes to call his favorite stuffies, 'The Boys'. Most recently he has started calling them his brothers. I love to watch the look on people's faces when we are out and they comment that Aiden must be a good big brother having 2 younger sisters and then Aiden replies that he also has 4 brothers at home!!

*Mommy- "Aiden you just disobeyed. Do you know what will happen now?"
Aiden- "There will be a huge coincidence."

*As I was handing out trail mix, I was asking the kids if they liked Tuna as I thought we could try it for lunch. Aiden finishes his snack and says, "Mommy, can I have more tuna......that was good!"

* Aiden's favorite summer time dinner is Hammer-burgers."

*Mikayla woke up from a good sleep and Aiden says, "That was a dog sleep!"
I asked him what a dog sleep was and he replies, "Well, it sure wasn't a cat nap".

Gigi, Poppa, Grandma and Tom are all visiting with Great Auntie Margaret and Ina today. The kids wanted to send a video message. Hello All!
(Do you like how Aiden is watching his reflection in the glass of the TV?)

P.S. Thank you for my birthday cards Great Auntie Ina and Margaret. They just arrived!

I have a Jumper!

Aiden never enjoyed the Jolly Jumper. My poor 20 pound infant would straighten his legs, flap his arms and cry out of frustration. Caileigh didn't mind the Jolly Jumper. She never quite figured out how to jump but would enjoy watching her brother run around entertaining her. Mikayla, on the other hand, LOVES the Jolly Jumper!! Watch and see......

About 1/2 block from my house is the old site of the Hospital where I was born. My Dad got the idea to take a picture of my Mom, the kids and I standing on this site, 30 years later.

Loving those feet.

Having a great time in the beach tent in the back yard. Great way to keep Mik happy and shaded.

Busted. Mommy said no side walk chalk on the deck!

Enjoying the saucer.

What a day!

Feeding Ellie. Each time we go to Strong Start the kids love to bring a little treat for the hamster that lives in the Elementary School.

Cooking up some dinner.

Busy typing up some important documents.

Sean has been working the last seven days so he wasn't able to be around for my dance days. My Mom took Aiden and Mikayla and then Caileigh was able to come with me to class. She did so well watching and today she even got up and practiced a bit with the girls. They (my mom and the kids) then had a picnic dinner outside the studio while they waited for me. I am very much looking forward to Sean being off tomorrow.
