A bit of January

Our days have fallen into a nice rhythm this new year.  Our weekdays are full of school and an additional activity each day like piano, gymnastics, bible study, co-op, etc.  On Sean's mid-week day off we try to do a fun family activity.  In the last couple of weeks we've gone the three s's........... skating, sledding and swimming.

In anticipation of the boys starting school next year (gasp!) I've been trying a few little tweaks to our schedule.  It's been going well and the kids have surprised me with their responses.  Mikayla has gone a little above what I had planned and has been getting up at 6 to start school.  I just wish she would  make sure I've had at least one cup of coffee first!!

Friends as close as sisters.

In co-op we've been learning about the body.

This week we went on a tour of the fire hall.  Alex and Jordan were so excited.  We went on a tour of a fire hall over a year ago.  The fire hall we toured this time was bigger and the boys knew a little more what to expect.  It seemed their hands were up every few seconds asking questions.  Everyone came back to our house for a fun, busy lunch.

A good friend of mine texted on Wednesday morning and told me that she was going to watch the kids so Sean and I could go on a date.
We had a great time going out for coffee and to the dump. (true story)  My friend lives on an acreage and they have goats, chickens and rabbits.  The kids said it was "the best play date ever!"  She's offered to watch them regularly for us.  Looking forward to it.

The Flu of 2015

{Day Before Illness}

Our new year started off well until Sean fell sick.  One by one we all fell sick until two weeks had passed before we were all well again.  It was a horrible flu!  High fevers, body aches, headache, cough, etc.  I really haven't felt that sick in years.  I admitted to Sean that when I saw him lying around I thought he was being highly dramatic.  It wasn't until I fell sick that I fully understood!
The day the boys were ill was the quietest our house has ever been.  Ever.
We spent the last week getting back into our rhythms and routines and it felt good.
Looking forward to this new year full of possibilities.

Finally getting back to life!

Mikayla's 6th Birthday-Part 2

It's been a quiet few days around here as a chest cold is slowly working it's way through the house.  On New Years Eve we allowed the kids to stay up until 10, but no later, as they needed the rest.  We watched the ball drop from New York and that allowed them to feel that they had rang in the new year.
 On the 1st we celebrated Mikayla's birthday by allowing her to choose the meals, playing games, skating and eating birthday cake!  It was a nice relaxing way to celebrate Mikayla as a family.
