Each of the kids have such unique personalities and giftings. I have been trying to teach them about what gifts God has put in them and help them to grow them.  It is fun to watch these different aspects develop.

Aiden is growing in his compassion for others.
He likes to teach and lead.
His thinking is extremely black and white.  He is gifted in the maths and sciences and tends to view the world from this viewpoint.  He is always trying to figure out systems and theories.

Caileigh wants to be someone that others feel encouraged by. She is thoughtful, easy-going and considerate.   She has been working hard to try and be an encourager within the family.  She envisions herself  working to help animals or people on day.

Mikayla is a very honest, out spoken child who delights in confrontation.  If I can continue to help her develop her patient, compassionate side, I think her strong personality can be a strength.  She could be a leader.

Alex is sweet, cuddly, strong willed and extremely outgoing.  He loves people and delights in interacting.  He has never met a stranger! (I watch him like a hawk in public to protect this innocent side of him but also don't want to squash his exuberance)

Jordan is a boy who knows what he wants.  He is engaging yet sometimes slow to warm.  He observes his surroundings and can be quite independent.  He likes to try new things.

Here are a few things the kids have said lately.  I think each is funny in how they reflect their personalities so well.

The older two are currently working on a social studies report.  Mikayla wanted to join in on the action and asked if she could do a report on rabbits.
We read rabbit books, watched rabbit videos, coloured rabbit pictures...........
One day as I opened up another book on rabbits she turned to me and said, "You know, I really hate rabbits.  Can I learn about squid now?"

The kids are currently attending swim lessons twice a week.  One of these days, my friend picks the older two up and takes them to class with her kids.
Her four year daughter was worrying over having to do a front float and declared that she would never, ever do one.
Aiden says, "Don't worry, you'll be fine.  There is nothing to worry about.  The teacher will take care of you.........And besides, if you do drown, the teacher will go to jail!"

When Alex(ander) does something unkind, he will come up to you and say sorry.  He then says, "I forgive you".

A few things Mikayla has said recently,
"Gramma, why are there cracks on your face?"
"Mommy, why is your stomach all squishy?"
"Mommy, why do you keep trying to look beautiful......are you attracted to beauty like I am?"
"Mommy, why are your boobies so floppy and small?"

Alex has taken a real interest in saying prayers at each mealtime.  Without fail, at every meal he'll pray that God will bless the food to our bodies and that we'll have a good sleep.

Jordan said that Daddy is his favourite girl.

Mikayla holds her pencil severely incorrectly.  I have tried everything to get her to correct it but she always reverts back to the original.  I told her that our support teacher was coming over and she would be talking to Mikayla about this problem.  Mikayla says, "I don't know why, she's not the queen of pencils!"
Mikayla was looking through a catalogue of gifts.  She exclaims, "That doll is so beautiful I could throw up!"
I was talking to my Mom on the phone and asked Mikayla if she would like to say hello.  "No", she replies, "but I do need to tell her what I want for Christmas."

We had a busy day full of school.  I told the kids I wanted them to work on their history project.  Aiden says, "But we haven't had any time for pleasure today."

Caileigh and I were walking while Mikayla was riding her bike on the road.  Mikayla stopped riding because she was feeling discouraged about something. (I'm not sure what as I missed this part of the conversation)  I hear Caileigh start to encourage her, "You can do it Mikayla, I believe in you!  Let's try it again Champ!"
And Mikayla did.
