Summer Visitors #4

Bupee Garling and Uncle Matt were here for a visit.  We really enjoyed our time spent with them and there were plenty of adventures to be had. Lot's of laughs, of course lot's of tears, and plenty of love to go around.
Aiden got to celebrate an early birthday and I was a little shocked when I put his 6 candles on the light saber cupcakes only to suddenly realize that there needed to be 7!!

Canim Lake 8km.

One activity that has been really difficult to get involved in since having kids, is running.  Each time after giving birth, I would just be getting back into my routine and then I would be pregnant again and give it up until the next baby came along.  I have been in this routine for nearly 8 years.  This spring when we participated in the family running club, I met a woman who asked me if I would be interested in joining her, and some others,  to run.  We just recently started running together and today we participated in an 8km run near a local lake.  It was a gorgeous day and the run went through an absolutely gorgeous area.  We had a lot of fun together.  There is talk of participating in a 1/2 marathon in Kamloops next May.  I suppose we'll see how we keep up during the long, cold winter.........

Summer Visitors #3

Nanee and Bupee stopped in for a visit.  The boys thought it was so fun that they were camping in their "mo-mo" (motorhome).
They have begun their 3 month trip across Canada and we were the first stop along their way.  It will be great to hear about all their adventures along the way.
PS  Happy
Birthday Bupee!

The kids had their first ever lemonade stand today.  After making the necessary plans and getting everything organized, they were outside waiting by 9:30.  The first set of customers was a community bus with senior citizens.  One woman was so sweet and handed out extra coins to each child.  They were heading into town to sell strawberry plants and so we ended up buying one from them.  They seemed to enjoy the complimentary cookies the kids were offering.
After two hours they had 7 customers and although the glasses were 25cents each, they managed to make $7!  They bought slush puppies for everyone and are putting the rest towards their sponsor child.
A perfect, hot summer day activity.

The boys on the other side of the fence, watching and waiting.

Geocaching

I first heard about geocaching a couple of years ago by Louise.  I have been wanting to try it because I knew that the kids would really enjoy it.  When I mentioned the idea to my Dad he graciously sent us a new GPS and since it arrived this week, we decided to give it a try.  Last night we went out as a family and went searching for treasure.  It was so much fun and we loved getting outside together and having such a fun adventure.  We looked at doing a few more last night but it was getting late and we needed to get home for dinner so we decided to wait until the next day.
This morning I woke up and thought that my neighbor Courtenay might really enjoy it.  We couldn't believe it but when I phoned to ask her if she wanted to join us, she had been planning on going out with her kids already.  Last night was going to be their first geocache but the mosquitos thwarted their plans.  Neither of us had discussed wanting to geocache before but the timing couldn't have been more perfect.  We found two and then my kids needed to come home for lunch.  They carried on and completed the one that we had done the night before.
We are really looking forward to making this a regular summer activity!!

Summer Visitors #2

My friend Ashley, and her family are visiting us this week.  We became friends during our time in Victoria before either of us were married or had kids.  We used to train for runs and triathlons together and this week was the first time we ran together in nearly 8 years!  It felt reminiscent, although she probably should have told me that she just finished running a 1/2 marathon.........I was exhausted trying to keep up!
We have been spending time at the beach, their campsite and our home.
Here is a glimpse into our fun on Canada Day..........

We bumped into local friends! {Hi Tania}

A sure sign that naptime is looming.......
The cutest thing was when Aiden set up a spa for Maddison and Caileigh.  Aiden and Brody washed the girls feet, rubbed lotion on their legs, washed and brushed their hair, and then painted their nails!  I have no idea where he comes up with these ideas.......
