Getting the kids to sit is getting more difficult. I may have to start using Bungy Cords instead of candy.

We're home from our holidays. We had a great visit in Victoria with family and friends. There were laughs, tears and lot's of fun activities.

Beach fun with Maddison.

An uncommon occurance

Sunset before thunder showers

Nanee and Bupee

Me and Cail

Fun at Beacon Hill Park

Watering Nanee's flowers.

The kid's bedrooms are in an attic type upstairs. The temperature is unbelievable and it would be horribly unsafe for the kids to sleep up there so they are currently sleeping on the couch while I wait for Sean to get home from work and figure out what to do with the monkeys. I'm thinking we'll leave them here where they can stay cool. We are investing in an air conditioner tomorrow so that should help!

It's true, I'm 7 Months!

My kids are clever cheats. Both Aiden and Caileigh started to creep forward at 6 months. Today, outside on the grass, Mikayla started to do the same. It wasn't until I was chatting with my Mom that she reminded me that our carpet in Prince Rupert was shag. This enabled the kids to be able to grasp onto the carpet and pull themselves forward. This is what Mikayla was doing outside today with the grass. I guess no more outside time for Mikayla. Wouldn't want to rush her physical development.

Randomness

In the garden before church.

Just happily rolling

Climbing Cherry Trees

Picking Cherries

Canning Cherries

You might remember Caileigh meeting bear. Now Mikayla meets bear.

Just Miky being Miky

Aiden was on one of his rambling monologues with me tonight when he announced that he is going to marry me when he gets big. We are going to hop in the car, catch the ferry to Comox, and drive to a lovely nursery where we will get married. I will wear a beautiful wedding outfit and he will wear a lovely shirt, lovely pants and new lovely socks.

We arrived at the Dentist yesterday for Aiden's check up and he announced, "I love the Dentist..........don't I?"

Aiden has been waking up at night with a lot of fears. In the morning I asked him what he was so afraid of and he says, "Marzipan." He's right, that does sound scary!

First Food and First Cold

Mikayla has started on solids. The pictures shown are her first food, banana. This was the older two's first food as well. We have also tried peaches because I happened to have some in the fridge. I go shopping tomorrow (Customer Appreciation at Safeway for those interested) and will be picking up some squash, sweet potato etc. so I can start intoducing those. Yesterday I took the peach I had prepared and frozen and offered it to Mikayla in the Safe Feeder. She really liked this.

Mikayla never took a soother because when she was really young there was no need for one with her easy going personality. As she got older I tried but she never quite got the hang of it. I even admit I still try now and then as it would be handy on those nights she wants to nurse so much. There are two ways that Mikayla soothes herself. One is to suck on her hand or forearm.

Two, is to suck on her own gums and mouth. It is hard to see in the picture but she sucks in her mouth as though she is making the fish face. When this starts, I know that bedtime is close. The next step is quietly singing to herself and you know that she will be asleep very soon.

Tonight, Miky woke up completely stuffed up and is having trouble nursing or breathing. I can't seem to lie her flat. I hope that this doesn't mean tonight will be a super long one. Here's hoping............

Boys will be Boys

I should have known. You can't expect to leave a running hose, a pile of dirt, and a little boy in the same space and not expect something to happen.

Can you see the look of absolute contentment on his face?
Always a monkey. Aiden climbed into Mikayla's backpack and got stuck.

Aiden's space ship that Caileigh helped him paint outside yesterday. The kids spent hours creating, and then playing in this old moving box.

A boat. Aiden added a chair to his teeter-totter and added a bungy cord to strap himself on. He loves his contraptions.

Aiden spends hours building and creating with his mega blocks and lego. This is a mail truck. You can see the scrap paper inside and the scissors and pen to create the "mail".

Aiden is such a strong, powerful presence in my life that I don't often remember that he is out numbered and will one day be bombarded by skirts, dolls and many pink accesories. I hope that his strong love for all things "boy" continue for years to come.

We survived another camping trip! The only disappointing moment was when Sean made the fatal mistake of going into Starbucks at Safeway and getting called into work today. I don't think he will ever do that again. The good news is that next week he has 3 days off so we can head off camping again.

Waiting for fireworks on Canada Day. Caileigh made it until 10:30pm and then had a little nap until I woke her up for the fireworks.

Aiden and Graden fascinated by the fireworks. Aiden stayed up until after midnight with no nap!

From the time we arrived at the campsite this time, Aiden was talking incessantly about walking through the big water pipe. He didn't let up so finally Sean and I decided to allow him to try. Well, after this huge build up he decided that he was too scared and I ended up going through myself! Not as much fun as it looks I tell you. Aiden kept trying to come up with "great" ideas that would help him get through....."Perhaps I could tie a rope to two chairs and then float through the tunnel like a boat".............um, don't think so. Anyway, here are some pictures to go with the event.
Sho Sho and Grandma waiting for Aiden and I to emerge from the tunnel.

Mommy emerging and Aiden cheering me on!

Perhaps......

Beach bums

Caileigh's friend Kara

"I just want to go to bed!!!!!"

Just hanging out.

Crashed with her girls.
