A bit of lately........

A walk around Sepa.

Library day produces quiet that can't be duplicated.
No front teeth!
It should be interesting to hear Caileigh recite her poems at the Music Festival next month with her cute little lisp.

These two are always creating little games and activities.  They poured their juice boxes into a tupperware container and then used the straws to slurp it up.

Trying to figure out the electric mixer.  Moments later they plugged it in and turned it on!

Trying to take some pictures of the two little monkeys.
{Alex/Jordan}

Jordan is a little taller than Alex but it seems really magnified in this picture.
I had asked them to put their arms around each other and this was the result.
It was Jordan's idea to put his hands on his cheeks for this picture and then Alex copied him.

Mikayla never tires of painting.

Egg blowing and painting.

Such a serious little painter.
We've started each child with a kitchen day.  They get to be my helper and sous chef for the day.
Here's Caileigh helping to prepare scrambled eggs.

The girls baked a cake and then there were many helpers to decorate it.

It's been a busy, fun and productive week.
Starting back at last weekend, Sean and I had been anticipating going to the community awards dinner. I mentioned that Alex fell sick the day before, but to top it off, Caileigh started throwing up and was feeling quite sick as well.  We didn't feel comfortable leaving our babysitter with sick kids as they were feeling crummy and just wanting their Mom.

I stayed home that night but we had plans to have her come later in the week.  Then, she ended up having to cancel on the night we had planned.  I probably sounded a little desperate but I started throwing out days and times until we came up with something that would work for both of us.
Today was the day that Sean and I went on our date.  Our sitter came over for two hours and we went into town to grab a coffee and then spent our time at the cell phone store getting a cell phone!  We have been talking about getting one for years, yet had never taken the plunge.  I have always been hesitant because I don't want Sean's work to be able to get in touch with him when he is off work, and also because I already knew how much I would love having one.  I'm excited to take the time to figure out all the fun features.

I wanted the kids time with the babysitter to be really successful so I actually woke the little boys up before the crack of dawn this morning so that they would have a little nap.  I figured it would help if she started with the 3 kids, and then transitioned to the 5 once they woke up.  Well, I guess they were tired because they slept the whole time!  The older kids had fun with crafts and playing games and were quite disappointed when Sean and I arrived home.  I'm so happy that it worked out and I'm already looking forward to the next time we can go out together.

Sean took the past week off work.  Aiden and Caileigh were enrolled in Lego Robotics camp up in Williams Lake.  I thought it would be great if Sean was around and I could take the older kids and he could stay home with the younger ones.  It worked out so well!  I drove Aiden, Caileigh and two of their friends up and was able to participate in the program and enjoy spending the time with my two oldest.  Sean was able to experience life with the littles.  I think he was a little shocked at how busy it is!  One day he took the older ones up to camp so he could rest:)
On the last day we went to the park and swimming.
It was a really fun time!

When we weren't at camp, Sean and I were able to get things done around the house.  It felt a little like spring cleaning.  There has been a huge difference in the last week in terms of weather.  Things are starting to warm up and the snow is melting!  Of course, as I type this, it is snowing outside.  At least we're slowly moving in the right direction.
I can't wait for summer!!

A week of illness hit our home.  Everyone took their turn being ill with the exception of Alex.
He came out unscathed and feeling a little like he owns the place!
It was a looooong week but we survived and everyone is feeling much better now.

(Edited: Last night Alex came down with the high fever so it seems he is getting sick too!  Sean and I have hired a babysitter for tomorrow night as Sean has been nominated "Citizen of the year" for 100 Mile.  I hope Alex is well enough that I can still attend the awards dinner.  This is only the second time (EVER!) that we have hired a babysitter and I'm excited about the possibility of this happening more frequently.  Will keep you posted.........)
