Saturday night we got a fresh dumping of snow. We awoke to a winter wonderland. We were all over tired from the last few days of unpacking so I didn't venture out to try any local churches. Instead, I took the girls grocery shopping and Sean stayed home with the boys. Driving through the 108 ranch was incredible. We live in a subdivision that is surrounded by trees, lakes and valleys. Everything was white and crisp and I felt confident driving with our new winter studded tires. Once I reached the highway, however, I began to feel nervous. The entire highway was covered in snow. I let people pass and tried to drive as fast as I felt comfortable. It was difficult because I couldn't tell if there was one lane or two. I arrived at Safeway and was remarking to an employee that I white knuckled it the whole way. She says, "Oh, tell me about it. I got to work and burst into tears because the highway was so bad. I've lived here 17 years and that was terrible. The snow is so wet and they haven't plowed the highway yet." Instantly I felt better. It wasn't just me! I suppose I went and brought some west coast snow with me. On the way home, the highway had been plowed and it was tremendously easier to drive on.

Today, the sun was shining and the temperatures rose to 0. The kids and I played outside for almost 2 hours. Alex really seemed to enjoy it. Jordan had been sleeping so he only came out for the last 1/2 hour. There are a lot of hills on our property so the kids love sledding down. Aiden and I tried to build an igloo but weren't successful.

My little snow babies.

  1. Congratulations Watson Family for a successful move. One-Hundred Mile (& 108!) sound fabulous. I love snowy places- grew up in one and have wonderful childhood memories of skating in my backyard (a flooded garden), sucking on icicles off the house, dressing beside the open oven door every morning- not to mention a few frozen fingers & toes. Enjoy making your new fond memories. Love & Hugs!!
