Fall Fair

Aiden and Caileigh participated in our local fall fair this year. They were delighted to discover that they had won ribbons and money! Caileigh won $8 and Aiden $7. I hadn't told them that the events would be judged and emphasized the enjoyment of getting to share our entries with others. I guess I won't get by on that explanation next year as they are already planning and hoping to win the big bucks!!

Aiden's collection of 10 rocks......no prize
Aiden's lego creation.......3rd place

Aiden's unusual garden grown potato.......1st place
Aiden's watercolor painting......1st place
Caileigh's pressed flower picture.......1st place
Caileigh's family portrait.......1st place
Caileigh's watercolor painting........2nd place
Sean also spent some time in the dunk tank and we had a blast dunking him repeatedly. He was dressed to the nines in his suit so it was pretty comical. I was upset with myself for forgetting the camera. My bag was packed by the door but I forgot to grab it!!

We're back at soccer for a few weeks and the kids loved to be back. It was a long, hot morning but so great to see the kids participate in something that they enjoy so much.

Aiden the Fierce
I love that he still gets excited to wave. The game actually paused for a moment at one point while he took the time to wave hi to each of his siblings.

Working on saving goals!

Little brother wanted in on the action but Big sister carried him back to the sidelines.

Always time to make dirt pies.

Little ones run in every direction.
Future soccer star?
Go Caileigh!
Loving every minute.
*Alex is doing really well! He had an unfortunate incident yesterday and managed to get his dressings soaking wet. Sean had to come home from work early to take him back to the hospital. They left just after 6 and didn't arrive home until after 10 last night! Sean said Alex was amazing and although his burns look pretty terrible, none of the blisters have opened and he was happy to run around at Soccer today. We see the Dr. again on Monday morning.

Please keep Alex in your prayers. He received a 2nd degree burn today from touching a hot vent. We need to keep his hand bandaged for the next few days until we see the Dr. again. The inside of his hand is badly blistered and must be quite painful for him. He is an amazing trooper though!! I'll keep you updated on his status.

Alex has been developing a horrible scream. It has increased in use and he will show it off if he is mad, frustrated, upset, happy, excited! I have been trying various tactics to curb it but so far nothing is really working. The worst is when he is in the bath and the scream has a way of bouncing off the shower walls and multiplying in pitch!
Jordan can also scream but he usually uses other methods to get my attention. Jordan has a teenage sounding way of saying, "Ma" that always makes me smile.
The video just gives a small glimpse at what his scream is like. We were just sitting having dinner and I pulled the video out and starting filming. Warning: Turn down the volume.
In the second video Alex was crying because he had thrown his milk cup and wanted it back. Jordan was crying in sympathy as he often does. Jordan doesn't like others to be upset or angry.
Note: Alex can sign and let his needs be known in ways other than screaming but for the sake of the video I just handed him his milk to show how quickly he will calm.

In our home, schooling is something that is done throughout the day. We have set school times and also impromptu times. Sometimes, grammar is done at the breakfast table.
I suppose there can be something said for passive learning because Mikayla just came up to me and informed me that, "boy" is a common noun.
Hmmmmm, I wonder if she'll learn everything she needs for kindergarten by osmosis??
