The kids had their first ever lemonade stand today. After making the necessary plans and getting everything organized, they were outside waiting by 9:30. The first set of customers was a community bus with senior citizens. One woman was so sweet and handed out extra coins to each child. They were heading into town to sell strawberry plants and so we ended up buying one from them. They seemed to enjoy the complimentary cookies the kids were offering.
After two hours they had 7 customers and although the glasses were 25cents each, they managed to make $7! They bought slush puppies for everyone and are putting the rest towards their sponsor child.
A perfect, hot summer day activity.

What a great idea guys. Wish we could have come by and bought some, it was really hot today!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ash and Sean:
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.
Deb has a great story of buying some lemonade, complete with ice, off of a stand near her home. She knew the children and was pleased to be able to support the ' home business'
Glass dutifully poured with lots of ice. She takes a drink. Delicious.
She walks away.
Business child runs after her and says" Mrs. W, if you are not going to use the ice can we have it back? "
:)
so great! The last pic of the boys in the yard is the best! Any special coins come in with the sale?
