{It's probably obvious that full clothing is optional around here}
Life is just moving right along. January and February have been fairly anti-climatic. Just us doing our thing, day in and day out. I'm thinking that this is a good thing!
The kids are all well and healthy. Alex and Jordan seem to have settled into the no nap thing and are choosing to have times of quiet activity on their own. They spend time doing puzzles and "reading" and playing with the older kids. They fall asleep quickly in their big boy beds and Jordan nearly always wakes up dry in the morning!
Mikayla spends her days dancing. She changes her outfits constantly and then asks me to sit on the couch so she can perform songs and dances for me. We've been talking about putting her into dance lessons in the fall and she asked me if the teacher was going to tell her what to do. I told her that the teacher would be teaching her to dance and she replies, "Well I already know how to do that!" I was able to convince her that there may be a few things she still doesn't know:)
Caileigh and Aiden are busy with school. The older kids have been waking up earlier lately so we've been taking advantage and getting started some mornings by 6:30. It's great to feel like we're off to a good start, as long as I fit in a coffee first!
We're currently studying astronomy and I have to say, I'm learning a lot. Today we discussed thermonuclear fusion. Fascinating stuff!
We have the music festival coming up at the end of April so they've been busy practising their pieces. They are each playing a solo, as well as a duet. We've also decided to try speech arts this year. The kids have been going for lessons where they memorize poems, fables and stories. They will each be performing a poem and a fable in the music festival as well.
After Sean's long work stretch, we decided to go on an overnighter to Kamloops. We drove down, visited the science center, went out for dinner, swam, spent the night, shopped and came home! It was a busy 24 hours but fun to change the pace and get away. Although the travelling can't be classified as "easy" yet, Sean and I were remarking at how far we've come since our first trip to Kamloops nearly 2 years ago. This time, all the kids were in bed asleep by 9 and in the morning Mikayla, Aiden and I were able to slip out the door to breakfast as everyone else was still sleeping!
We have our teacher visit tomorrow which means that we are 2/3 done with the school year! If time keeps on marching as it has been, the summer will be here in the blink of an eye.
